November 8, 2005

Randy Neufeld and his team from La Salle (Charlie Salina, Birk Cramer, and Scott Podolsky) won the KEN KURBIS MEMORIAL GALAXY BONSPIEL at Rossmere Country Club, beating Rob Cosens of West St. Paul 9-3 in last night's final (Nov.7th).

Neufeld's team earned $4,000 in topping the 32-team field. Cosens picked up $2,000, and curled his best in pounding Vic Peters of Valour Road 10-4 in the semi-finals; Neufeld was a 5-3 winner over Rob Atkins of East St. Paul.

Peters and Atkins received $830 each, while losing quarter-finalists Wes Jonasson of Arborg, Dave Tonnellier of Valour Road, Jeff Tarko of Fort Rouge, and Ryland Young of Springfield earned $500 (8 qualifiers).

November 7, 2005

At the Rossmere Country Club, the quarter-final playoffs started last night (Sunday, Nov.6th) in the KEN KURBIS MEMORIAL GALAXY BONSPIEL. Rob Atkins defeated Jeff Tarko 7-3, Randy Neufeld beat Wes Jonasson 8-5, it was Rob Cosens over Dave Tonnellier 9-5, and Vic Peters bounced Ryland Young 8-5. The losing teams earned $500 each.

Semi-finals are slated for 6:00 p.m. tonight (Monday) at Rossmere, with Atkins meeting Neufeld and Cosens against Peters, the final to follow at 9:00 p.m. The winner will receive $4,000, the runner-up $2,000, and losing semi-finalists $830 each.

November 2, 2004

Richard Muntain of St. Vital (with Lionel Chartrand, Vic Bellay, Danny Mondor and fifth Jim Weir) won the KURBIS MEMORIAL GALAXY BONSPIEL and $3,700, beating Randy Neufeld of La Salle ($1,675) 6-2 in the final (Nov.1st). Dan Kammerlock of Valour Road and Dwayne Small of St. Vital ($675 each) lost in the semi-finals; Bill Kuran of St. Vital, Reid Carruthers of Pembina, Andrew Wickman of St. Vital, and Trevor Loreth of St. Vital ($500 apiece) lost in the quarter-finals.
