Vic Peters of Winnipeg's Granite club (with Mark Lukowich, Chris Neufeld, and Denni Neufeld) won the PHARMASAVE GIMLI CLASSIC at the Gimli Rec Centre last night (Monday, Nov.22nd).

The Peters team earned $5,200 and a berth in the Manitoba Curling Tour Championships in Ste. Anne and Steinbach January 7-9th. Peters defeated Chris Galbraith of Stonewall ($2,800) in the final, clinching the verdict with a steal of two on the 8th end. He had an open takeout with the 10th end hammer to win it 7-6.

In the semi-finals, Peters bounced Bill Kuran of St. Vital 8-2, while Galbraith was an 8-6 winner over Renaud Gagne of Ste. Anne. Kuran and Gagne earned $2,000 apiece.

Corey Anderson of Valour Road and Jim Todoruk of Dauphin picked up $1,000 each by qualifying for the quarter-finals. Howie Restall of Valour Road won the Consolation event and $500.

The quarter-finals in the PHARMASAVE GIMLI CLASSIC were played last night (Sunday), and the teams of Chris Galbraith of Stonewall and Vic Peters of Winnipeg's Granite club advanced with victories.

Galbraith was an 8-3 winner over Jim Todoruk of Dauphin, while Peters defeated Cory Anderson of Valour Road 6-1 in six ends.

Todoruk and Anderson earned $1,000 apiece for qualifying. Howie Restall of Valour Road picked up $500 by winning the Consolation event, beating Scott Baird of Bemidji, Minnesota, 5-4 in that final.

Today's (Monday) 4 o'clock semi-finals will match Galbraith against number one main event qualifier Renaud Gagne of Ste. Anne, while Peters will be facing number two Bill Kuran of St. Vital. The final will follow at 7 p.m.

The top prize is $5,200, $2,800 goes to the runner-up, and $2,000 each to the losing semi-finalists.
